What do you do in case you have been a victim of identity theft phishing? How do you know that your identity has been stolen or phished by some criminal on the internet? Using the internet as a powerful tool, smart criminals steal personal and financial details of the users. This is called phishing.
Here the person who is resorting to identity theft phishing sends out e-mails to unsuspecting users of the internet asking them information about themselves and asking the users to go to a link page where they gather other information like passwords and bank account numbers, credit card numbers and names etc.
The email will force the user to give out details by creating a fear factor where by they indicate that their bank accounts would stand frozen etc. Unsuspecting users thinking the email to be genuine will respond without cross checking with their banks and this leads to identity theft.
It is very important to check with your bank over the telephone before you venture out giving all your account details. It just takes a minute to do that but it will save you a lot of eventual problems. Many people fall victim to identity theft phishing without realising that they are actually falling into a trap which could rob them of their identity and even leave them bankrupt one fine morning. Only when they find that all their money in the account has been swiped clean will they realise that some smart criminal on the internet has swindled them. People who commit identity theft phishing will use all the information they have stolen to make impersonations and to commit crimes for which you would be held responsible. They will try to get your Social security numbers and driving licences, use your identity to obtain bank loans in your name, obtain funds from financial institutions and credit cards. Once you wake up to the fact that identity theft phishing has occurred immediately inform your bank not to process your credit card transactions or transfer any funds from your accounts. Inform the cyber cell of the police department alerting them of the same. It is advisable that you act immediately on discovering that your identity has been phished. Identity theft phishing has become rampant on the internet but people are more aware and cautious about providing any details about themselves on the internet.
